Centering Prayer Group
Our Centering Prayer Group intends to foster the process of transformation in Christ in one another through the daily practice of Centering Prayer.
We are committed to living the contemplative dimension of the Gospel in everyday life. There are many forms of prayer. Centering Prayer is silent prayer, where we consent to God’s presence and action within us. It has been a part of the Church since early times. It was re-introduced to our lay church by Catholic Trappist monks in the 1970’s, who desired that we experience its healing and power within our lives.
The group meets twice a month on the first and third Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Ministry Center Library. The primary purpose of the Centering Prayer group is to help sustain the commitment to a regular practice of Centering Prayer. We also explore other prayer methods including the Welcoming Prayer and Lectio Divina.
Centering Prayer group meetings always consist of one period of Centering Prayer and include:
• Sharing with others of experiences with Prayer and its positive effects in daily life.
• Ongoing education on prayer and contemplative life through study and discussion of books, videos, workshops.
