Since 1815, there has been a group of Catholics in this area who have been praying and working together. By 1823, this congregation, comprised mostly of French and French-Canadian settlers, began meeting formally in a modest log house on the east side of the creek, calling their church St. Peters Church. However, frequent flooding of the creek made it difficult for many parishioners to attend, so in 1834, they built a new church on the west side. As the years passed, German immigrants arrived in the area, leading to the growth of the parish and the founding of new parishes in neighboring towns like Old Monroe, Josephville, O’Fallon, and Cottleville. To accommodate this expansion, the parishioners built a larger third church in 1855-1856 on a hill where the parish still stands today. In 1856, the name was changed to All Saints Church.
By 1874, the parish had grown to nearly 125 families, and a new church was constructed, with its first Mass celebrated in 1876. The church’s interior was completed by 1882, under the leadership of Fr. Nicholas Staudinger and Fr. Conrad Rotter. Over the following decades, the parish flourished as an active community. In 1880, they acquired grounds on Mexico Road for their annual picnic, and additional buildings followed, including a rectory in 1903, a convent in 1915, and a new school in 1919 to replace the original built in 1870. The parish remained stable in population from the 1870s into the 1960s, but soon after, the area experienced a population boom, with the parish briefly expanding to over 1,500 families. New classrooms were added to the school in 1977, and a new rectory was built in 1979, which now serves as the Parish Office. In 1989, the Parish Center and Gymnasium were constructed to provide more space for parish activities.
Throughout the years, the parish continued to grow and adapt under the leadership of many pastors, including Fr. Louis Kertz (1975-1981), Fr. Robert Argent (1981-1986), and Fr. Ron Chochol (1986-1991), with Fr. Michael Henning (1991-2005) and Fr. Donald Wester (2005-2024) playing key roles in shaping the parish's modern era. Most recently, in 2008, a new rectory was completed on the site of the former convent. In 2024, Fr. John Schneier began his service as the Parochial Administrator, continuing the long legacy of a parish that began over 200 years ago.
