Mission Statement: To support liturgical celebrations, to foster “oneness in worship”, and to create an environment that inspires sincere prayer and praise through full, conscious, and active participation in the liturgy.

Duties: Instrumentalists and singers to participate in a variety of choirs, ensembles, and cantor opportunities.

9 am Choir:

Open to all music-loving adults—no professional music training necessary! The 9am Choir provides choral music, ranging from contemporary to traditional, with organ accompaniment for the 9am Sunday Mass as well as special Masses and Holy Days throughout the year. Rehearsals are Thursdays, 6:30-7:45 pm.

Leader: Ally Mesler, allisonmesler@gmail.com

11am Gym Ensemble:

Welcomes all singers and instrumentalists high school age and older to provide music for the 11am Gym Sunday Mass. This group enjoys incorporating more contemporary styles of music. Rehearsals are Thursdays, 7:45-9:00 pm.

Director: Chris Maher, maher978@gmail.com

Parish Festival Choir:

All Parish members and Sunday ensemble participants who love to sing are welcome to join Festival Choirs which provide music for major Holy Days such as Christmas Midnight Mass and Easter Vigil. This group works very hard to provide a high standard of choral music; however, singers of all levels are welcome! Rehearsals vary depending on the liturgical season.

Parish Children’s Choir:

The Parish Children’s Choir welcomes all parish children who love to sing, ages 2nd-8th grade. The choir provides music for Christmas Eve 4pm Church Mass and 9am Easter Sunday Gym Mass. Rehearsals vary depending on the liturgical season, but are typically the 4 Wednesday evenings before the Mass.

Instrumentalists:

Besides piano and organ accompaniment, our Sunday ensembles include a variety of instruments. While not all instruments are fitting in the liturgical environment, all instrumentalists interested in joining an ensemble should contact Emily Banks bankse@allsaints-st.peters.org; 636-397-1440 ext. 302 to discuss which ensemble would be the best fit.

Cantors:

A few members of our choirs also serve as cantors. These singers are expected to be a confident solo singer and worship leader. A cantor is scheduled to lead the congregation in all music selections for the 5pm Saturday Mass and the 7:30am Sunday Mass. Cantors also act as psalmists, proclaiming the responsorial psalm and the Gospel Acclamations. Cantors are expected to rehearse and sing with another Sunday ensemble or choir.

Time:

Members of the music ministry are expected to attend an hour and 15 minute weekly rehearsal and weekly Sunday Mass. More time commitment may be required during liturgical seasons such as Christmas and Easter preparation, while less time commitment is needed during the summer.
