St. Louis Chamber Chorus at All Saints
Opposites Attract: Holiday Works
For over three decades the Chamber Chorus has invited numerous ‘songs of the season’ from composers around the globe. This season’s Christmas program samples the most attractive and engaging examples of these commissions. Some are wholly original, like the double choir versions of In The Bleak Midwinter by Latvian, Eriks Esenvalds, and Before The Ice by Englishman, Bob Chilcott. Others offer arrangements of familiar, beloved carols from France and Sweden. And, true to Chamber Chorus tradition, we feature the work of women composers with a Dutch carol arranged by Martha Shaffer, a German verse from Sasha Johnson Manning, and a recent collaboration between Kerensa Briggs and the Kansas poet, Charles Anthony Silvestri. A highlight will be the world premiere of Alleluya! A New Work Is Come On Hand by local composer, Carter Datz.
On Sunday, 22nd December at 3 pm, this celebration of contemporary composers will renew the living tradition of Christmas to the historic church of All Saints, a beloved landmark of St. Peters, Missouri.
